If I were an animal: I’d be one of two: I’d be a Pink Robin or, as my friends always describe me, — a corgi. However, if mythical beasts were involved as an animal I’d totally be a Dragon!!
A book that I just adore more than any book is the beloved Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde-- It's a book that I've held close to my heart for a very long time. Oscar Wilde often put his personality into his characters, which readers can often see in this novels. It's beautiful in prose and haunting in story, and I recommend it for those summer-into-fall semi-cold windy days. However, I read it every season and collect editions of it. It's also a really bold piece of "homoerotic" lit, and while I wouldn't categorize it as outwardly queer lit, it still has a homoerotic subtext, and it was very controversial for Wilde's time.
(When changing my name, I actually changed my middle name to Wilde for his sake since I've always wanted a literary name.)
Some of my recommendations are: (My recs list varies by season, TBH)
-At this point, anything written by Oscar Wilde-- I love his work and life story so much.
-Carmilla by Sheridan Le Fanu
-Late Night At the Telegraph Club by Malinda Lo
-Even Though I Knew The End by C.L. Polk
-Where Angels Fear to Tread & Maurice by E.M Forster
-Misery by Stephen King
-Women of Troy by Pat Barker
-Song Of Achilles by Madeline Miller
-I Have No Mouth but I Must Scream by Harlan Ellison
-Annie Bot by Sierra Greer
-Touch of Jen by Beth Morgan
-Bunny by Mona Awad
-All That Consumes Us by Erica Waters
-The Secret History by Donna Tartt
-Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury
-My Year of Rest and Relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh
(I would say Dracula as well but we're already reading it this semester!)
AND MANY MORE!
A video I would recommend would be anything from Good Mythical Morning, I watch them every morning and I fall asleep to them every night!
I recommend this video (They got me into Trader Joes):
Of course, here’s a photo of me down below! So excited to start this awesome semester~ :)

ReplyDeleteMe too, they're so funny
DeleteI've been looking into getting some Tattoos myself. Any advice from a professional?
ReplyDeleteI would say as long as you think it's a cool design and you wouldn't mind having it on your body forever, go for it! Also, a lot of folks tend to be afraid of needles medically but not artistically (myself included!). It's a whole different experience which is probably why I'm okay with tattoo needles but not medical ones! So if you're worried about pain, before you go and buy that $16 numbing cream that may lead to your artist cancelling your spot (for context: numbing cream can have a bad affect on the skin and thus your tattoo) all in all, have a chat with your artist and talk about what you want in depth and they can help you out! :) Have fun!
DeleteHi Kenna! Your post was so interesting and congrats on making it to senior year! I think its so cool that you're a tattoo artist and so published, it sounds like you've have a really full four years here. I looked up a few of your book suggestions and will definitely them a try, thanks for the recommendation.
ReplyDeleteOf course! And thank you so much! :) I've definitely blossomed in my final--i'd say 2-3-- years here! I knew absolutely no one coming to Bloomsburg from Penn State so I was excited to see how I warmed up and took every opportunity I could to grow in my junior/senior years. You're so kind!
DeleteKenna, you sound like the coolest person ever! I was wondering because they seem right up your alley, do you watch Smosh and/or Dan & Phil? I love GMM, I used to watch it with my brother a lot and I started getting into Smosh after Mythical Entertainment bought it... Dan & Phil have been a lifelong obsession though haha.
ReplyDeleteMore than fair! I definitely was always a GMM girlie but I loved SMOSH when I was younger and watched Dan and Phil with friends. I also dated SMOSH's editor Peter for a short while--like literally ONE date at my local park before he moved to California-- he was so nice and a genuinely great person. We still follow each other so no hard feelings between us there LOL
DeleteHi Kenna! I envy you that you are a tattoo artist! That is one of the coolest jobs ever! My roommates and I watch different shows about tattoo wars and always say how terrible we would be at giving tattoos because of how complex and skilled you have to be!
ReplyDeleteAw thank you! It's like any artistic job but just on skin and permanent (trust me, sometimes I have that realization mid-piece and I'm like "wait a minute, this is permanent and I'm doing this right now and this person will have this ink forever...WAIT THAT'S COOL!") I used to be so nervous to the point were I'd hold my breath but you can imagine just how bad that can be for an artist. It's much different than drawing on something like paper, you have to have the angle perfect and the depth perfect .it's pretty interesting! I had to train for 2 years before I was able to full get okay'd to take clients! I'm excited to hop back into it after I graduate!
